Hemp, Flax and Chia Seed Burgers

These are hearty and healthy burgers that hold up very well during cooking. The seasoning is very simple and can easily be altered to your taste. These take a little effort but it is well worth it. Give ’em a try!


Hemp, Flax and Chia Seed Burgers

  • 1/2 cup Hulled Hemp Seeds
  • 1 cup water
  • 1/4 cup chia seeds
  • 1/4 cup milled flax seeds
  • 1/4 cup coconut flour
  • 1 1/2 – 2 Tbs Low Sodium/ Gluten-free Soy Sauce (or substitute)
  • Other seasoning (optional)


(makes 4 burger patties)

Bring the hulled hemp seeds to a boil in the water, then simmer for 15 minutes. Allow to cool long enough to safely transfer to a blender. Blend for at least 1 minute. The end result will be like a gravy.

Transfer to a bowl and add the remaining ingredients, starting with the soy sauce first, then seeds and flour. Mix until it begins to turn into a dough … 1-2 minutes. The longer it sits, the less sticky it will become.



Form into 4 patties. Pan fry in a little oil of your choice … approximately 5-8 minutes per side. I melted a little goat cheese on mine and served on a bed of lettuce. Enjoy!!
